Know your place

Watching the episode of Dr Quinn – the one where they are trying for a baby. Kaylie and I start talking about the process.

Kaylie: when I have kids I’m not going to worry about the timing.

Me: that’s what your father and I did. We told the Lord it was in His hands and just enjoyed ourselves. Of course He thought we were having too much fun and sent you.

Kaylie: *laughing comically * no more excitement for you two for the next eighteen years!

Me: *looks at her seriously* and just how old are you?

Kaylie: *stops laughing * I have never felt more unwanted.

Me: * laughs hysterically *

The True Reason

Setup: We have just arrived at our second beach for the day, and my father has disappeared.

Me: (asking my mother) Did dad go off to find us a spot?
My Mother: (being totally manic) I don’t know where he went, he is always doing this. Just takes off.
My Mind: Probably to get away from you.

By the time we got to the beach, her manic mood had completely overwhelmed me, and I ended up taking a nap, but sometime during that my dad showed up. Before leaving, we stopped and ate at a beach cafe, and I got a quiet moment to talk to my dad. He asked if my nap helped.

Me: Yeah, it helped to checkout and reset so I can handle mom’s manic mode.
My Dad: (sneering) Oh you noticed that.
My Mind: He wasn’t running away – he was saving your life mom!

Vacation – Day Two

Relaxing day of sun, surf, and sand! My mother’s manic mood almost pushed me over the edge. Since I couldn’t go to my room, I parked myself on a beach towel and took a nap. It was so warm😊. We got to see more whales and ate – no stuffed ourselves at a luau!

Best ramblings of the day – as we were leaving my mother asked if we needed to pray? “Only when you’re driving.” Renee joked. Which was followed by my father sassing, “Thank you, Renee, for volunteering.” lol
