Camping part 3

Day three was a much better day. As you can see by the Facebook Camping Vlog. Well … except for Dirk who lost his fish. Slipped right through his fingers. (Name that movie reference)

Hickory is usually running around crazily but when it comes time to fish will get very vigilant and patient. It’s one of the rare times we will see her still. Guess we need to more fishing.

The horses get to graze in a nice meadow just down from the lake while we are there and cause mischief. *shakes head in disbelief * Be sure to watch the Vlog till the end.

Camping part 2

Day two started like any normal day. Wake up, force yourself out of bed (mostly because you have to pee but it’s too cold to go to the outhouse), eat breakfast and go about your day. For us that required us to start weighing out our packs to make sure we didn’t hurt our horses. It took about two hours to get everything set up, horses saddled, packed and then loaded.

And then hell broke loose all over camp! All I could do was sit there and watch as Whiskey threw everything all around the corral, down the road, around the trailer and through our camp!

What do you do? Kill him or start over and try to make something out of the ashes? Horse soup wasn’t on the agenda so we regrouped and went exploring. Finally found a lake that we have been looking for years- the trail map was so out of date. Yes the day was exhausting but we still took the high road (less traveled) and found some peace.

Our camping trip was like my bipolar episodes- up, down, and all over the place! I’ve already shared some good moments on Instagram and have posted the “First Night Vlog” on Facebook.

Getting their had me having meltdowns at every store we stop in but you can tell by that evening that I’m very comfortable with being a hermit in the mountains. lol

Running Away

Dirk has talked me into this high mountain trip into the Unitas. I don’t know how I’m going to do but for kicks I’m bringing my GoPro. Maybe I’ll get the courage to show you something.

I have post set up to go till I get back on Wednesday but until then please keep us in your prayers. I’ve already had two meltdowns and we just got started.

You be the judge

I’ve narrowed my selections down to six photos. There are two contests- one is ‘anything goes’ (allowed 2 entries) and the other is “Life in Box Elder County” (only 1 entry). For life in my county I am deciding between two.

1. The Silage Truck

2. She Got Her Fish

Both of these are also illegible for the ‘anything goes’. Here are the other four I have picked out for the fair.

3. Got Mud?

4. Yosemite River

5. Tiny Raptor aka Blue

6. Rees Park Pond

Just don’t

After the wedding yesterday we spent the evening looking for wildlife (we saw 3 bears and 1 elk), watching stars (saw two falling and 1 flash) and overall enjoying the views and company- until I made an inappropriate comment.

Me: You know what make this evening perfect- if we had some lightning. Come on Lord, show me you love and let’s see some lightning!

Dirk: Thou shall not tempt thy Lord thy God.

This all happened before I posted last night and before we settled down into our tent. Note that we are settled over plywood and because of this we didn’t staked it down.

We went to bed about 10:30 and I was about to fall asleep around midnight when a very large thunderstorm moved. I could see the lightning all around us at first it was cool then it started to get closer. Then the wind and rain hit! The wind collapsed our tent on top of us and tried to lift us off the boards! I had to grab the pole and hold it down hoping that the rain fly would stay attached. We struggled for a half hour like that- lightning, thunder, wind and rain beating all around us.

After things settled down a bit I checked the weather for what was to come and lightning strikes. These are all hits within a mile off us.

We only had enough time to check and re-situated before the next barrage hit.

After that Dirk reminded and rebuke me for my earlier comment.

Me: Lord I recognize your love and appreciation it. I have enough now, you can share with others.

Well the lightning dimensioned after that but we still had to deal with thunderstorms till 3am.
